GRAYS FARM MAN FINED OVER THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
Twenty-nine-year-old Darren Mack must pay $35,500 dollars by June or will spend a year in prison.
Police found a gun, bullets and two bulletproof vests when they searched Mack’s home last week.
The Grays Farm man and his girlfriend recently appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh facing several offences.
Mack pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a 9mm pistol, 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 22 rounds of .45 ammunition.
He also admitted to illegally obtaining two ballistic vests belonging the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda.
Prosecutors withdrew the charges against his girlfriend, who pleaded not guilty.
The defendant’s lawyer Lawrence Daniel says a package containing the items washed into his client’s yard during flash floods last November.
