Hon. Sir Robin Yearwood Resigns as MP Following 50 Years of Service
Hon. Sir Robin Yearwood has resigned as Member of Parliament for St Phillip’s North, effective today. The revelation was made by Sir Robin in a letter read by House Speaker Osbert Frederick during today’s special Parliamentary sitting. The occasion celebrated Sir Robin’s 50 unbroken years of Parliamentary representation of the constituency. This is a record in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, as well as all parliamentarians and House Speaker Frederick, praised Sir Robin for his extraordinary service. Independent MP for All Saints West, Hon Anthony Smith Jr., called Sir Robin a legend.
