HOUSE SPEAKER SLAMS ACB CARIBBEAN FOR CHARGING FOR SOME WITHDRAWALS

House Speaker, Osbert Frederick has chided local banks for some of their policies, delivering a blistering broadside against ACB Caribbean for charging for withdrawals above a certain threshold.

The Speaker was making comments in Parliament on Monday, insisting, “if that is not white-collar crime, I don’t know what is.”

He welcomed the Banking (Amendment) Bill 2025, which is intended to address some of the concerns he raised. The legislation was among a suite of harmonized bills across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union on banking and finance matters.
