IMF FORECASTS 6% ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA IN FISCAL YEAR 2022
The International Monetary Fund has projected economic growth of 6 percent for Antigua and Barbuda this fiscal year.
Cabinet says the Washington-based multi-lateral has hailed this performance as outstanding.
The forecast of 6 percent growth in real Gross Domestic Product comes as an IMF team conducts Article IV consultations in Antigua and Barbuda.
If realized, this would place the twin-island state among the region’s fastest growing economies.
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC, is more bullish in its forecast, as it expects Antigua and Barbuda to realize economic expansion of 7.5% in 2022.
These projections are on the back of revised figures from the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, showing the twin-island state’s economy grew by 7.4 per cent in 2021.
