IMMEDIATE RECRUITMENT OF NEW SOLDIERS AND POLICE OFFICERS

The Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda has approved the immediate recruitment of 50 new police officers and 50 new soldiers. 

Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office, Maurice Merchant, says the move is to strengthen government’s response to crime threats.

He adds it is part of government’s overall plan to take the fight to criminals.  The recruitment is also set to improve the overall safety and security of Antiguans and Barbudans.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne adds, according to Merchant, the hiring of the officers will bolster operational capacity, improve viability, and strengthen protection measures.
