IMMIGRATION MINISTER REACTS TO UPP CLAIMS OF ‘COGGING’ ON WORK PERMIT MEASURE

Immigration Minister and incumbent ABLP candidate for St Paul, E.P. Chet Greene, says the United Progressive Party’s claims his party copied their immigration policy are bogus.
The Gaston Browne administration has eliminated work permit fees for nationals of Caricom countries and the Dominican Republic, gainfully employed in in Antigua and Barbuda.
The measure took effect January 1, 2023, but the UPP was quick to argue the government adopted its campaign promise.
The UPP had proposed removing the need for work permits for nationals of these countries, and replacing them with an employment stamp.
Minister Greene has brushed aside suggestions of copying.
