INFORMATION MINISTER PROVIDES UPDATE ON MEDICINAL CANNABIS
Another private entity has expressed interest in Antigua and Barbuda’s soon to be blooming medical cannabis industry.
Itopia life is proposing to invest ten million E.C. dollars for the establishment of a sacramental and medicinal marijuana facility on the island.
Itopia Life intends to produce medicine by growing several tons of cannabis under license annually.
Information Minister, the Hon. Melford Nicholas agrees with their decision to begin exclusively with the local market.
The information Minister says 24% of the company will be owned by the government, another 24% will be owned by the Nyahbinghi Rastafarian Community and the remaining 52% will be owned by Itopia Life. A cabinet sub-committee is expected to conduct further negotiations with the group.
