JAMAICA BRACES FOR MONSTROUS HURRICANE MELISSA; CUBA AND THE BAHAMAS ALSO THREATENED

The US National Hurricane Centre says “catastrophic” and “life-threatening” hurricane-force wind conditions are expected to begin impacting Jamaica on Tuesday.

On the forecast track, the core of Melissa is expected to move over Jamaica early Tuesday, across southeastern Cuba Tuesday night, and across the southeastern Bahamas on Wednesday.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Dr Andrew Holness says the authorities have been fully mobilized in preparation for Melissa’s onslaught.
