JAMAICANS TO VOTE IN GENERAL ELECTIONS SEPTEMBER 3

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has announced Wednesday, September 3, 2025 as the date for the next general elections. He has also announced Monday, August 18 as nomination day. The announcements were made to thousands of supporters, during a mass rally of his Jamaica Labour Party at Half-Way-Tree in St Andrew Sunday night.

Dr Holness has been Prime Minister since 2016 and JLP is seeking a third straight term in office. The JLP now has 49 seats in the 63-seat legislature.

The main opposition People’s National Party, led by Mark Golding, is seeking a return to government following consecutive election losses in 2016 and 2020.
