Leader Of Government Business In The Senate Says Previous Nominees To The CIP Board Were A Frightening Prospect..

The opposition got a fresh chance to voice its disapproval of a cabinet run Citizenship by Investment programme.

A bill that was passed in the Upper House Wednesday, gives the cabinet oversight of the CIP to the chagrin of opposition members, including Senator Jacqui Quinn.

But leader of government business, Senator Lennox Weston, refused to sugar coat. He offered the government’s position on its decision in his usually blunt and forthright manner.

Senator Weston says the very prospect of what could have taken place, had the previous board appointees been approved, literally scared the cabinet.
