Leeward Islands Women have lifted the CWI T20 Blaze, with victory in Friday night’s final over Barbados Women.
They won by 6 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method in a rain-affected contest at Arnos Vale in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Leewards won the toss and elected to take first strike and made 111/6 in their 20 overs.
Player of the match, Shawnisha Hector, led the way with 58 from 44 deliveries, while wicketkeeper-batter Reneice Boyce contributed 26.
There were two wickets apiece for Shamilia Connell and Aaliyah Alleyne.
Barbados reached 79/5 after 16 overs when the rains came, but were behind on the DLS method.
Hector was named player of the match for her brilliant half century, and also received the awards for batter and allrounder of the tournament.
Leewards captain Amanda Edwards was overjoyed with lifting the trophy for the first time, following an undefeated campaign.
