MAJOR AIRPORT RUNWAY REHABILITATION PROJECT BEGINS
An extensive airport runway expansion project has officially begun at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
At a cost of 55-million US Dollars, the 8-phase project will see a new turning bay and runway resurfacing among a host of other upgrades which will see the runway come into even greater compliance with stipulations from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The construction and engineering segments of the project are being led by Aecon Company Ltd in connection with Kelly Construction Inc. Civil Aviation Minister, Hon. Charles Fernandez and Antigua Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) officials are excited at the overhaul, which is mostly using local aggregate.
The overall venture is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
