A country’s development is measured by its level of poverty.
Statistics from the last poverty assessment conducted in 2006 indicated that the poverty rate in Antigua and Barbuda stood at 18.3 percent.
Minister of Social Transformation Samantha Marshall says come 2019, the government expects this percentage to be minimal, if at all existent.
According to Marshall, 2016 has been declared a year of social progress for all.
Driven by their mission, the ministry will spare no effort in providing optimum social services to the population.
The Minister of Social Transformation adds that the ministry aims to safeguard and protect the welfare of the vulnerable population through policies, actions and strategies.
