MODERATE AIR QUALITY ALERT FOR ANTIGUA & BARBUDA
The Meteorological Services has issued an Air Quality Bulletin, warning of moderate air quality conditions through to Sunday, July 6, due to Saharan dust.
The Air Quality Index will range from 51-80, placing conditions in the moderate category with Alert Level II. This marks the 10th notable Saharan dust surge for 2025, with elevated concentrations of particulate matters 2.5 and 10.
While air quality remains acceptable for most people, sensitive groups including those with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children should take precautions.
Active children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor activities, while people with asthma and other respiratory diseases should avoid extended outdoor exertion. Unusually sensitive individuals should monitor air quality updates closely.
The health risk remains low for the general population, but those with existing respiratory conditions are advised to stay informed about changing conditions.
