MSJMC partners with MBS to enhance Mammography Unit

The Mount St John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) will be partnering with the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) to further enhance the efficiency of the Mammography Unit at the medical facility.

The hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Sean Deschamps says the hospital plans to upgrade to a full digital mammography unit with stereotactic breast biopsy.

He says with this new procedure, patients will be able to maintain their self confidence and esteem throughout the process.

During stereo imaging, two-dimensional digital images of the breast are taken from two different angles is sent to a computer for image analysis.

The computer compares the data from each image and calculates three-dimensional location coordinates for breast abnormality.
