NEW EQUIPMENT ARRIVES TO TURBOCHARGE ROAD WORKS

The Government is assuring of intensified efforts to improve the condition of the country’s roads.

The Public Works Department has shown ABS News images of some of the new equipment which have arrived in the island for use in the efforts.

They include a grader, excavator, backhoe, rollers and other heavy-duty units.

The department says efforts are being made to have the equipment quickly deployed to ramp up road repairs nationwide.

The Government disbursed some $21M last year to procure these and other equipment for the Works Ministry.

The budget for the current fiscal year also includes significant capital expenditure to fund extensive repairs and construction of roads and drains.
