Opposition Senator Johnathan Joseph has given qualified support to the move to transfer Jolly Beach Resort to the Social Security Board.
Senator Joseph emphasizes that Jolly Beach plays a unique role in the tourism sector and the resort’s revival is essential for the Social Security Board’s long-term sustainability.
However, while signaling support, he urged the government to conduct a proper assessment of the resort’s current condition, to ensure the investment delivers the projected returns and avoids future financial risk.
His comments were welcomed by government senators during Monday’s sitting.
