PEARL QUINN WILLIAMS GIVEN DEADLINE TO RESPOND TO FRESH APPLICATION IN DEFAMATION CASE
United Progressive Party leadership aspirant Pearl Quinn Williams faces a crucial deadline in the defamation lawsuit brought against her by Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne.
April 5 marks the deadline for Quinn Williams to respond to Prime Minister Browne’s latest legal maneuver.
She is being represented by the UPP’s former political leader, attorney Harold Lovell.
The Prime Minister’s legal team, led by Dr David Dorsett, has applied to strike out Quinn’s defence entirely, claiming it holds no water in the face of the defamation suit against her.
Friday morning, before Justice Rene Williams, the case inched forward, setting the stage for a legal showdown May 15.
The case stems from allegations that Quinn Williams defamed Prime Minister Browne, by displaying a placard with his name alongside certain allegations, during a protest in January.
The Prime Minister has labeled this a direct attack on his reputation.
