PM BROWNE COMMITS SUPPORT TO JAMAICA IN THE WAKE OF HURRICANE MELISSA
Prime Minster Hon. Gaston Browne has announced Antigua and Barbuda will provide financial assistance and will also deploy soldiers to support the relief and recovery effort in sections of Jamaica ravaged by Hurricane Melissa.
The head of government joined fellow heads from Barbados, Grenada and Guyana on a Caricom solidarity mission to Jamaica on Monday.
Prime Minister Browne says Antigua and Barbuda stands in solidarity with the Jamaican people, noting the region knows firsthand the impact of major storms.
He pointed to Barbuda’s rebuilding after Hurricane Irma as proof that Jamaica can “rebuild bigger and better,” with support from its Caricom partners.
