PM Browne Declares The 35th Meeting of Caricom Heads A Success
Chairman of CARICOM, Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne, has declared the 35th Regular Meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government a success.
The three-day forum came to an end on Friday, with a press conference at the Sandals Grande Resort and Spa.
Prime Minister Browne says the centerpiece of the discussions was the approval of the region’s first ever strategic plan, which he believes will be the benchmark for building economic, social, environment and technological resilience.
He says a debt advocacy body was also formulated to assist those countries in meeting financial obligations.
The Heads also agreed on a resource mobilization strategy to promote public private partnerships. Technical advice will be sought from regional and international financial agencies to include the World Bank.
During the discussions, Montserrat also announced its intention to accede to the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, paving the way for full participation in the Caribbean Community
