PM BROWNE DEFENDS DECISION TO ENTER AGREEMENT FOR ANTIGUA AIRWAYS
Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has assured that the Nigerian investors behind Antigua Airways have the financial resources to bankroll the carrier.
Prime Minister Browne told his audience on Pointe FM on Saturday the success of the venture will see the opening up of a corridor between Antigua and Barbuda and the African continent which will redound to the benefit of LIAT.
The government has signed a formal agreement with Marvelous Mike Press Limited to launch the carrier which is set to commence operations in October of this year.
Under the deal, the investors will be responsible for funding the airline and the government of Antigua and Barbuda will get 20 per cent of the profits.
Prime Minister Browne has also chided the main opposition United Progressive Party over its comments about the proposed enterprise.
