PM Browne Grateful for Saudi Arabia’s Support for A&B
Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda’s deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support of the country’s development.
The head of government was speaking this morning at the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), now underway at Frigate Bay in St Kitts and Nevis.
He lauded Saudi Arabia for what he described as its steadfast commitment to regional progress.
He highlighted, in particular, the US$80 million loan provided for the expansion of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus.
A three-member delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Council of Ministers and Climate Envoy, is attending the Caricom meeting. The delegation also encouraged greater uptake of scholarships offered by Saudi universities.
Prime Minister Browne is leading Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation, which includes Ambassador to Caricom, Dr Clarence Henry and Senior Foreign Service Officer, Kurt Williams.
