PM BROWNE SAYS, “CUT REGIONAL AIR TRANSPORT TAXES BY HALF”
Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister the Honourable Gaston Browne has proposed a halving of taxes on regional air transport. Current applicable taxes include ticket taxes and development taxes.
The proposition is aimed at encouraging regional travel in the aftermath of the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recent cuts by Caribbean Airlines and the slow revival of LIAT have made the suggestion well-timed.
The recommendation was made to regional counterparts and further discussions should take place on Friday June 25, 2021, when CARICOM Heads are due to meet.
