PM BROWNE SAYS ‘FRIVOLOUS’ ALFA NERO LAWSUIT COSTING TAXPAYERS SIGNIFICANT SUMS

The Government has already been required to spend thousands of taxpayer dollars responding to a request in overseas courts from Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov, the Russian citizen claiming ownership of the Alfa Nero superyacht.
The request demands disclosure of financial documents linked to government officials, including Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne.
The Government is required to cover the costs, since the officials named as respondents were all acting in their official capacities for the vessel’s sale.
Prime Minister Browne says there’s nothing to hide, but the government is following legal advice not to set a precedent that forces prime ministers to disclose their banking details, based on what he calls frivolous claims.
