PM ON UWI FIVE ISLANDS FUNDING

Prime Minister, the Honourable Gaston Browne says his government will make an advance payment to the University of the West Indies within the next two weeks.

The Prime Minister says a tax dedicated to fund the University is expected to bring in another 15 million dollars by the end of the year.

In the meantime, he reveals plans to improve the University.

The government intends to spend 25-million-US-dollars to add dorms, more lecture rooms, and a large library.

The Prime Minister is also encouraging the private sector to build apartment complexes around the University to host the anticipated influx of students from the OECS.
