PM Spencer Challenges Opposition Leader to Withdraw Claims in Court
Prime Minister Dr. the hon. Baldwin Spencer has challenged opposition leader, the hon. Gaston Browne to withdraw his claims against the Boundaries Commissions and the Re-registration of electors’ cases from the Courts.
The leader of the ruling United Progressive Party (UPP) says that while the Antigua Labour Party (ALP) claims that the UPP is delaying the elections, it is the ongoing judicial proceedings in these matters, which is stalling the process.
The Opposition has accused the Spencer administration of a lack of readiness for an election, but the Prime Minister says he’s ready to call the elections now if the matters are withdrawn since he is confident of a third term in office for the UPP.
The ALP is challenging proposed changes to constituency’s boundaries and the re-registration of the voters before the eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
