Police Commissioner Issues Statement on ABEC Incident
Police Commissioner Vere Browne has issued a statement on Sunday’s incident at ABEC’s office.
According to Browne, the police visited the office of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission to conduct enquiries into a report that was made.
“The police, upon arrival at the office, met a number of staff members to include; Gary Peters, Generis Robinson, Samantha Leacock, among others.
Following a conversation the police had with Gary Peters, they subsequently accompanied him to the IT Unit where they met Miss Samantha Leacock at her desk.
An envelope bearing a letter was handed to Leacock by Gary Peters in the presence of the police, and having read the contents of the letter, she gathered her personal effects and was about to leave the building, when she was requested to turn over the keys to the office.
Leacock voluntarily handed over the keys to the office prior to leaving the building. It is significant to note that Leacock was never touched neither was she man- handled, by Peters or the Police throughout the discourse.
During their verbal communications, both Leacock and Peters conducted themselves, in an extremely cordial, civil and rational manner, and ought to be highly commended for their exemplary behavior.”
