POLICE MAKE MAJOR ARMS AND DRUG SEIZURE AT PORT

Law enforcers seized 141 rounds of ammunition, three firearms and 37 pounds of cannabis at Deep Water Harbour on Tuesday.
The police and customs discovered the illegal items in two shipments when they conducted the joint operation.
One barrel contained two 9mm pistols and 114 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
It also had a .380 pistol with 5 rounds of .380 ammunition; a .22 pistol with 22 rounds of matching ammunition, and 17 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis, weighing 17 pounds.
The investigators found another 20 pounds of cannabis in another barrel concealed in vacuum-sealed packages. The substances carry a combined value of XCD$262,000.00.
The officers took the items to a police station and detained two men after the seizure.
However, the police say they have released the men pending further investigations.
