PORT MANAGER ATTENDS MEETINGS IN UK TO ADDRESS PORT CHALLENGES
Port Manager Darwin Telemaque is departing the island this evening en route to the United Kingdom for crucial discussions.
Telemaque will be engaged in five days of strategic meetings to address challenges in ensuring the port remains sustainable.
One of the main shipping lines into Antigua and the region, Crowley has pulled out, creating a void and an economic challenge.
High Commissioner in London Her Excellency Karen Mae Hill coordinated the meetings in London to meet with the shipping lines.
The Port Manager says meetings will be held with many other shipping agencies and others, freight consolidators and forwarders and non-vessel operating common carriers (NOOCCs).
He says the meetings will focus on how the port can engage the agencies better and whether the port can be a solution to some of their logistics and transport needs.
