President Donald Ramotar Meets Local Guyanese
On the sidelines of the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting, Guyana’s President, Donald Ramotar, met with Guyanese residing in Antigua & Barbuda, and updated them on the progress being made in their country.
The President, his Attorney General Anil Nandlall and Foreign Affairs Minister Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett fielded questions at a meeting convened at the Multi-Purpose Centre, Perry Bay, on Wednesday.
In his address, President Ramotar said Guyana has made steady progress within the last eight years, despite the global financial crisis, which severely affected the region.
The Guyanese President spoke of his government’s attention to the social sector, which he says was lacking before his administration took office.
He added that focus is placed too on developing the country’s human resource capital, highlighting the country’s accomplishment in attaining Universal Primary Education and its final push to Universal Secondary Education.
Improvement of the health sector was also highlighted.
