PRICES OF SEVERAL BASIC FOOD ITEMS TO FALL WITH TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF TARIFF REGIME
Consumers are expected to benefit from gradual price reductions on certain basic food items, following the temporary suspension of the Common External Tariff.
Dozens of imported food products such as potatoes, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, infant foods, cooking oil, as well as sardines, mackerel and corned beef will be zero-rated for at least a year.
The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division will be monitoring to ensure the reductions are passed on to shoppers.
