PRIME MINISTER BROWNE IN BRAZIL FOR MAJOR SUMMIT

Published

on

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has joined fellow regional leaders in Brazil for crucial talks on regional and hemispheric issues. He is participating in the Brazil-Caribbean Summit, being hosted by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in the capital Brasilia.

Brazil, which makes up a third of Latin America, has been a major proponent of South-South cooperation, and is expected to advance those discussions during this summit. Climate change, trade and economic cooperation are also expected to dominate the talks on Friday.

The Summit comes at a time of shifting geopolitical alliances, which have rocked the Post-World War II order. It also comes less than two weeks before Antigua and Barbuda hosts the hemisphere in the 55th Regular Session of the Organisation of American States’ General Assembly.
