PRIME MINISTER BROWNE OUTLINES INFLATION-TARGETING POLICIES IN ‘PEOPLE-CENTRED BUDGET’

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne says his administration will continue efforts to ease inflationary pressures on the nation’s populace. He says while inflation has moderated, initiatives will remain in place in 2026 to protect the purchasing power of consumers. These include continuing the zero-rated status of certain basic food item, while maintaining a subsidy on fuel and electricity.

He wants consumers to be vigilant to ensure they are benefitting from the expected reductions in prices from the suspension of the Common External Tariff.

Prime Minister Browne provided the update as he delivered what he called “the most people-centred budget in the nation’s history” in Parliament on Thursday.
