PRIME MINISTER CONTRIBUTES TO UWI

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has donated 100 thousand EC dollars towards the operation of the Five Islands campus of the University of the West Indies.
The head of government has led by example and is urging other individuals and corporations to contribute in support of the campus.
The Hadeed Group has also contributed 500 thousand EC dollars.
A payment of 10 million EC dollars will be made as an advance to the campus in the next two weeks, with 90 per cent of that amount already raised.
UWI Vice Chancellor Professor Hilary Beckles announced on Wednesday that the Five Islands campus had received full approval and will open its doors this September.
Meanwhile, Principal of the University’s Mona Campus in Jamaica, Professor Dale Webber is among those on the implementation team for the fourth landed campus.
He says it will be a work in progress.
