PRIME MINISTER LEADS HIGH-LEVEL DELEGATION TO COMMONWEALTH MEETING

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne is leading a high-level delegation to the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, from the 20th to the 25th of June.
The delegation comprises Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Trade, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister for Housing, Lands and Urban Renewal, Hon. Maria Browne, Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ideka Dowe, political and trade attaché at the High Commission.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne will speak on two high-level panels that will focus on climate change and sustainable economic development.
This will be in addition to formal working sessions of CHOGM.
Prime Minister Browne and Foreign Minister Greene will also hold bilateral meetings to strengthen ties with fellow Commonwealth countries such as Cyprus, Nigeria, Kenya, Malta, Rwanda, Ghana, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Minister Maria Browne will also participate in the bilateral meetings in addition to representing Antigua and Barbuda at an important side event on violence against women and girls.
She will also lay a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Antigua and Barbuda is also expected to throw its support behind incumbent Secretary General Baroness Patricia Scotland of Dominica as she faces two challengers on Friday; Senator Kamina Johnson Smith of Jamaica and Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli of Tuvalu.
