PUBLIC CEMETERY RUNNING OUT OF SPACE
Chief Health Inspector Sharon Martin has confirmed the Public Cemetery is running out of space for new burials.
Martin explains this is the worst year on record for the number of burials at the facility. There will be 305 burials by the end of this week which is already a record for the period January 1 to September 30.
She says a meeting will need to be convened with the Health Minister Hon. Sir Molwyn Joseph to determine what will need to be done. The decision likely to be taken is to inter bodies from rural areas in cemeteries on the outskirts of the island.
Martin asserts the number of Covid-19 related deaths has exacerbated the issue.
