PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS TO RECEIVE BACKPAY THIS YEAR AND SALARY INCREASE NEXT YEAR

Public servants are set to receive retroactive pay this year and another salary increase next year. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne made the announcement to loud cheers during a town hall meeting in All Saints West on Thursday night.

He did not specify the date for the disbursement of the backpay, but more details are expected in coming days. Prime Minister Browne also urged Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin to move toward raising the minimum wage.

He says with the economy on the rise, citizens must share in the benefits.
