QUESTIONS RAISED OVER LEGITIMACY OF KELVIN SIMON’S NOMINATION

Attorneys for a registered elector in St Mary’s South have called into question the legitimacy of the nomination of the UPP’s candidate for the constituency, Kelvin ‘Shugy’ Simon.
Lawyers for Casworth Aaron say they are instructed that Simon is a civil servant, holding the post of an officer with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The lawyers say they will object to his nomination since the Civil Service Act makes it clear, a civil servant is disqualified from membership of the Senate or House of Representatives.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has responded to the looming legal tiff, writing on his person Facebook page, “they say they going to write and back date his letter of resignation – we are waiting like a loaded gun for them and their trickery.”
