REMAINING NINE TEACHERS RECEIVE CHEQUES; EDUCATION MINISTER EXPECTS NORMALITY MONDAY
Education Minister, Hon. Daryll Matthew says he expects normality to be restored in public schools next Monday, following over four days of a sit-in teachers.
He says the remaining nine cheques with allowances were delivered to eligible teachers on Friday, and says as far as the Ministry knows, this accounts for all teachers who had been owed allowances.
Teachers staged a sit-in since last Friday afternoon, which continued for all of this week.
Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne had chided the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers for the continuation of the industrial action, saying it was disproportionate, as the government had never showed a resistance to paying.
