School Day Lengthening In Consideration
Director of Education Jacintha Pringle says the time has come to re-consider lengthening the hours of the school day.
She was speaking at a recent press conference at the Ministry of Education.
The consideration was once on the table some years ago but was abandoned amid widespread criticism.
Currently, government secondary schools operate from 8 to 1:30.
The education director says that with the proper structure in place, a longer school day could be beneficial for Antigua & Barbuda, as it would heighten student productivity and minimize loitering among the youth.
