SECURITY FORCES TO RECEIVE TRAINING TO ENGAGE HUMANELY WITH MENTALLY ILL

Law enforcement officers are to receive crucial training on how to effectively interact with individuals who may have a mental health condition, and come into conflict with the law.
This is among the measures being crafted as the Health Ministry works to modernise the country’s mental health framework, with a focus on human rights and the removal of stigma and discrimination.
Those disclosures were made on World Mental Health Day by Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Teri-Ann Joseph.
