SENATE APPROVES LEGISLATION TO INCREASE VEHICLE LICENSING FEES

Parliament’s Upper House has approved the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2025.

It paves the way for increases in licensing fees for most vehicles to fund accelerated road repairs.

There was intense debate in the chamber, with government legislators staunchly defending the need for the increases, while there were howls of concerns from opposition senators.
