SENATOR APOLOGIZES OVER PAST COMMENTS ABOUT SIR LESTER

A government senator who was once a fierce critic of the late Sir Lester Bird has apologized for his past comments.

Before becoming a parliamentarian himself, Senator Colin Browne had opposed a knighthood for Sir Lester, but recanted those comments in Parliament on Tuesday.
