SENTENCING IN ILLEGAL CIRCUMCISION SET FOR SEPTEMBER 28

Dr. David Dorsett who represents Dr. Matthews in the trial provided this update to our newsroom. 

Dr. Patrick Matthews and Arnold Joseph will face sentencing on the 28th of September after being convicted in the High Court today.

As the trial is ongoing, he has declined to provide any further comment.

Dr. Matthews who is a Physiotherapist and Joseph an Operating theatre technician, breached the Medical Practitioners Act, when they performed a circumcision in April 2015 without a licence.

The family of the patient expressed their concern as the procedure was botched.
