SEVEN WEAPONS SURRENDERED DURING GUN AMNESTY
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has hailed the just-concluded national gun amnesty as a success.
The Force confirms seven firearms and seven rounds of assorted ammunition were turned in to law enforcers between April 7-30.
The weapons are a shotgun, a rifle, two revolvers, a pistol and two air rifles (pellet\BB gun).
This has been the latest initiative aimed at removing illegal firearms from the nation’s streets. The amnesty allowed for the weapons to be turned over to the police without the risk of prosecution.
Acting Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers praised the results of the initiative, as he addressed journalists at a news conference on Wednesday.
