SEVERAL DERELICT VEHICLES REMOVED AS NATIONAL CLEAN-UP CONTINUES
The national clean-up campaign is continuing apace, with the Environment Ministry reporting that close to two dozen vehicles have so far been removed in the Yorks community. The campaign began in October as part of a broader thrust to beautify Antigua and Barbuda. Derelict vehicles have presented a significant health and security hazard across communities nationwide. They are marked with an X, giving the owners an opportunity to take steps to remove them, before the authorities move in with heavy-duty equipment to haul the disused vehicles for disposal.
The government has called for residents to participate in the clean-up campaign and to demonstrate greater civic pride.
