Shop Steward Credits Facility’s Management for Evacuation
Normal operations have resumed today (Tue) at the Antigua Port Authority, after work was abruptly halted on Monday following a gas leak that resulted in some of the workers falling ill after they inhaled the gas fumes.
Shop Steward for the workers represented by the Antigua Barbuda Workers Union, Peter Leonard, is crediting the facility’s management and other key personnel including the Fire Department for the manner in which they handled the evacuation.
Following Monday’s evacuation, Leonard says that there must be a plan in place to deal with such incidents in an organized manner, should they occur in the future.
