SIR RONALD SANDERS CALLS FOR CARICOM COUNTRIES TO DOUBLE OAS CONTRIBUTIONS

Veteran diplomat Sir Ronald Sanders wants Antigua and Barbuda and other countries of Caricom should double their financial contributions to the Organisation of American States, as the hemispheric grouping is challenged by inadequate funding.

Antigua and Barbuda now pays US$42,000 to the OAS each year.

The organisation has an annual budget of US$93 million, with the United States paying just under half of that amount, followed by Canada and Mexico with the next highest amounts.
