SIR RONALD SANDERS EXTOLS A&B’S CLIMATE JUSTICE LEADERSHIP

Antigua and Barbuda’s top diplomat in Washington DC, Sir Ronald Sanders, says Antigua and Barbuda’s steadfast leadership in the global fight for climate justice has again been underlined.

He was reacting to an advisory opinion delivered on Monday by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, in favour of the Commission of Small Island States on climate change and international law, COSIS.

COSIS is a 9-member grouping co-founded in 2021 by Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne along with Tuvalu’s then Prime Minister, Kausea Natano.

The case brought by COSIS focused on the obligations of countries around the world to protect the world’s oceans from climate-warming greenhouse gases.
