The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is facing growing challenges in ensuring that recent duty and tax concessions on essential food items are passed on to consumers, despite clear government directives.
The issue has arisen as the division steps up monitoring of supermarkets and other locations to ensure price reductions are being passed on to consumers following the suspension of the Common External Tariff, CET, on some essential items.
